My sweet sister works at an embroidery shop in Camden called "You Name It," so naturally, ever since we told her we were pregnant, she has been anxiously waiting for us to decide on a name. Much to her delight, we have finally tacked down a name, but it did take us awhile. I mean, the way we see it, this baby will have this name all of his life, so we certainly felt like we owed it to him to give the name due consideration. The funny thing is that I mentioned the first name to Michael before we even knew we were pregnant, and he really didn't like it. A couple of months later, my mom gave him a book of baby names so he could highlight the ones he liked, and when he showed it to me after he finished, he had highlighted the very name I suggested months before!! And men say women are confusing! ;)
By the time I was 4-5 months pregnant, Michael and I were in firm agreement on the first name, but we were still pretty lost on the middle name. We listed the top ten names (that we agreed on) one day and then each put them in order. This eventually helped us narrow it down to our top three middle names, but it took us about two more months to decide firmly on one. Michael loved the middle name as soon as he thought of it, but it took it awhile to grow on me. What ultimately sold me on the middle name was it's meaning: "fruitful."
After much deliberation, we have decided to name our son Abraham Oliver Johnson, and we will call him Bram. We pray that our son will have great faith, like Abraham, and that he will be a spiritual father to many. We also pray that he will bear much fruit for Kingdom of God, like the olive tree.
We love you Bram, and we can't wait to meet you! :)
